Whilst Australian’s have become somewhat accustomed to bouncing back from environmental disasters such as Bush-fires and Floods. COVID-19 has thrown up something that has not been seen for generations and will have ongoing impacts to the way we live. Unemployment has risen to 5.2% with many forecasting this figure to be closer to 7% or more by October as The Reserve Bank of Australia forecasts around a 10 percent drop in GDP by June. As a result many industries have been and will continue to be impacted bringing about uncertainty, anxiety and stress to many Australian households.

The Push-Up Challenge is a fantastic initiative started but a group of mates completing 3,046 push-ups over the course of 21-days representing the number of lives lost in Australia to suicide in 2018. More than 75 per cent of mental health issues develop before a person turns 25. And yet, many traditional services aren’t equipped to address the unique barriers that young people face to accessing mental health support. Headspace Centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs or work and study support.
